STIG
STIG
STIG is a high energy, improvisational funk band based in Boston, MA and touring regionally and nationally. Originally founded at the Berklee College of Music between 5 friends that consistently push the boundaries, STIG brings a burst of good spirit and energy to every crowd they play for.

Ryan Stigmon (Sax) and Thomson Knoles (Keyboards) wrote the first STIG material in their hometown of Flagstaff, Arizona. They recorded that material on their first EP in Boston with the original line-up featuring Cecil Alexander on Guitar, Danny McGonegle on Drums and Artie Sadtler on Bass. Ryan still lived in Arizona at the time, but 6 months later he moved to Boston to attend Berklee with the rest of STIG. The band was then reassembled with Jack McChesney on drums. Through the second half of 2015, STIG played often in Boston, MA and surrounding areas. They gained many of their first fans while playing basement shows in Allston, MA.

In January of 2016, STIG had the honor of playing on the main stage of the NAMM Music Convention in Anaheim, CA. The band then went on to play many more venues including Rockwood Music Hall in New York City where they recorded part of their first live album called FLEX. Shortly after FLEX was recorded, Cecil (guitar) moved across the country and was replaced by Riley Hoover, another friend from Berklee. Since then, they’ve opened for bands like Bron Don and Big Mean Sound Machine and played venues including Radio Bean in Burlington, VT, The Middle East in Cambridge, MA, and The Red Room at Cafe 939 in Boston.

From the band.....
“We want our listeners to enjoy our music just as much as we enjoy playing it. To play music that makes you smile and move with us is our goal. We all find inspiration in many different genres and enjoy making groovy music with the different ideas we hear on a daily basis.”
